The Best Prime Rib Steaks are in a Class of Their Own
Of all the steaks in the world, prime rib is in a class of its own. Unlike other types of steak, which are cooked on the grill, prime rib is typically cooked as a roast. It is part of the primal rib, and it is also known as a rib eye or rib roast. Although not all prime ribs are necessarily Prime beef, it is a much finer dining experience when you can find a Prime cut sourced from a leading meat supplier. A slice of this marbled and muscled meat roasted over dry heat and seasoned to perfection is unlike any other meal—but only if you get the right meat and cook it the right way. Although some mistake prime rib for Prime beef, the products you find in the grocery store are likely not Prime. You can find Choice and Select grade prime ribs in most grocery stores, or if you know of a good steakhouse steak provider you can find USDA Prime cuts for sale. This is a great choice for special occasions. When you are choosing cuts of steak in the grocery store or from the butcher, you will want to avoid the leanest meat. This is because prime rib is supposed to have fat marbling, which seals in the flavor and keeps it moist. Bright red steaks with white marbles of fat are the ideal choice. One particularly delicious type of prime rib is dry aged, which may be harder to find but is worth the effort. Dry aged meats of any kind will also cost a bit more because they grow dense from shrinkage during the aging process. They are also more tender and flavorful, making it a more delicious and worthwhile choice. Some things you just want to splurge on to make it worth your while, and prime rib is definitely one of those instances. So, always get the best steak or prime rib you can afford.
